Jason Chair, Carl Jacobs for Kandya
Jason Chair, Carl Jacobs for Kandya
The C2 ‘Jason’ chair was designed by Danish designer Carl Jacobs and manufactured by Kandya, a British firm. This lightweight, stackable chair has gently tapering splayed legs in beech. The seat/back unit, which is formed from a single sheet of moulded beech laminate plywood, is secured on the underside with a joint similar to that of a jig-saw piece.
Each chair is in good vintage condition showing signs of wear commensurate with age. The ‘stress point’ on the curved lower back of each chair (between the apertures) has been professional repaired (due to historic splitting) and refinished. Although structurally sound, it would be prudent to ensure any future use of either chair does not include significant weight being placed against the back support.
A ‘registered mark’ label is evident on the underside of one of the chairs.
This progressive 1950s design forms part of the permanent collection at the V&A.
The price quoted is for one chair (two available).
