Linocut by Conrad Lewis, RCA
Linocut by Conrad Lewis, RCA
An abstract composition of a nude figure serenaded by a stylised swan by Conrad Lewis. Lewis (1922 - 2005) was a lecturer in sculpture, art history and drawing at Chester School of Art and exhibited in Liverpool, Amsterdam, Chester, Cardiff, London and St Albans. A modernist at heart, Lewis was elected as an associate member of the RCA (Royal Cambrian Academy of Wales) in 1967 and became a full member in 1968.
The unsigned artwork sits in a glazed, wooden frame with the artist’s handwritten notations and paper labelling to the back. Overall, the linocut is in good vintage condition - the colours remain vibrant although there is some staining to the outside edge in places (as shown in the images).
